HOW TO PROTECT YOUR SKIN DURING A WORKOUT

We all want beautiful, radiant skin like in the movies, but for some of us that is partially impossible, hormones, pollution, and skin conditions all have a major effect on us girls every day. But don’t fret, we have listed our top 4 tips to try and help your skin look radiant whilst working out and help stop those sudden breakouts.

WHAT IS YOUR FACE SKIN MADE UP OF?

The epidermis, the outer layer of skin, provides a waterproof barrier and creates our skin tone. The dermis, beneath the epidermis, contains enough tissue, hair, follicles and sweat glands. The deeper subcutaneous tissue (hypodermic) is made of fat and connective tissue.

LOOKING AFTER OUR SKIN WHILST WORKING OUT

1 - Is it okay to go for a workout wearing a full face of makeup?

No, No, No even if you are going to the gym straight from the office, ideally you should remove all makeup foundation, mascara, and lipstick,  a simple travel-size face wash will easily slip into your bag and you don’t need to take a full-size beach towel, a flannel will be sufficient to pat dry or use eco cleansing wipes.

2 - But I want to look my best whilst working out…

Sweat and an increase in body temperature during exercise can lead to open pores which can become blocked by particles of makeup making you more prone to a breakout. Gyms are also not the cleanest of places so every time you touch a piece of equipment and then touch your face you are spreading bacteria. You’re Beautiful anyway!

3 - After an intense workout

Cleaning your face after a workout is just as important as before, with all that bacteria it needs removing, a face wash or eco-cleansing wipes will be fine.

4 - What about if I’m workout outside?

Again please do not work out with a full face of makeup but remember to apply an SPF if you use a sun cream factor 30 this means it needs to be reapplied every 30 minutes and if factor 15 every 15 minutes and so on.  Don’t forget your neck and ears.
